This recipe is inspired by KFC's Honey BBQ Wings, pairing sweet and savory flavors for delicious fried chicken wings. The wings are coated in a flavorful flour mixture and tossed in a homemade honey BBQ sauce for added taste.
Step 1: To a ziploc bag, add the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, Slap Ya Mama seasoning, onion powder, garlic pepper, and chili powder. Mix well and set aside.
Step 2: In a bowl, combine the chicken drumettes with the beaten eggs, milk, onion powder, garlic pepper, chili powder, and Slap Ya Mama seasoning. Mix to coat the chicken.
Step 3: Place the chicken in the ziploc bag with the flour mixture and coat fully. Let it rest on a wire rack or plate for 5-10 minutes to allow the flour to stick.
Step 4: Fry the chicken in oil heated to 375 degrees until golden brown and cooked through (165 degrees inside). Drain on a wire rack or paper towel.
Step 5: To make the honey BBQ sauce, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, Slap Ya Mama seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small pot over low to medium heat. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Step 6: Toss the cooked wings in the honey BBQ sauce and enjoy!
